We just finished up May which is Mental Health Awareness Month so we did some research to find out how music helps with mental health.
NewsletterMusic Lesson Update – September 2024
Hello everybody!
My name is Tanya and I’m Here with your September update for the Georgetown Academy of Music with all the details of what’s going on at the Academy, what to celebrate and what to look forward to for this month.
On the agenda:
– welcome our new students over the last month
– September birthdays for students, staff and and teachers
– celebrating our student of the month and our teacher of the month
– Kids Make Music Week
– referral prize
– Winter recital details
– tips and tricks
– secret word draw
Let’s start off with welcoming our new students
We are pleased to announce over 145 new students over the last month! Welcome everybody!
We are so excited to have you in our studio and on your musical journey. We’re very happy to be a part of that!
Happy birthday to 17 Georgetown students celebrating their birthday in September!
Happy birthday as well to a number of our teachers and staff:
Edmond
Justice
Joe
Mario
Lindsay
Behesea
We hope that you all have a fantastic birthday and nothing short of an amazing year ahead!
Student of the Month:
Each month we get to pick a student that’s been showing passion, dedication and a lot of work towards their music lessons and this month we get to celebrate Nox J for Georgetown.
Congratulations! We are so proud of you and your accomplishments so far. You’re doing fantastic!
Teacher of the Month:
This month we are celebrating one of our Burlington and Georgetown guitar and ukulele teachers he teaches, Mario.
Over the years Mario has shown that a laid back and calm natured temperament has really helped put his students at ease and also helps skyrocket their success in their music lessons.
Don’t be fooled though! Mario is still going to give you homework and practice throughout the week before your next lesson and always push you to be the very best musician you can be.
Thank you Mario for all the work that you do and everything you do with your students to get them to where they are!
Kids Make Music Week:
September 3rd to 9th we’re offering families who don’t take lessons with us yet to try a 30 minute lesson for just $10!
This offer is available for new families that are not currently enrolled in lessons with us.
Meet the teacher, have a beverage and a snack when they check in and then of course if they choose to continue on with lessons everything gets signed up just like normal.
If you know anybody in your circle of friends or family that might want to try a lesson then pass on this great offer!
Referral Prize:
We love when our families share their love of their lessons to friends and family and want to thank you with a special referral offer each time.
Up until September 30th, we are offering a special referral prize.
Have your friend mention your name at the time of registration then they will get their first lesson free as well as their $25 registration fee waived. Then if they stay in lessons for three months after they get started then you’re going to get your next month of tuition fees free as well for one family member in your household who takes lessons with us!
Tell everybody you know that you love your lessons and we’d be happy to help them get started on their journey!
Winter Recital:
I know we’re just finishing up summer but that also means it’s the perfect time to start planning and practicing for the Winter Recital!
December 13th, 14th and 15th at the Mississauga Living Art Center
Talk to your teacher at your next lesson at about what music you can play at the recital and get practicing!
As always, our recitals are a perfect opportunity for a very beginner student – who maybe hasn’t even taken lessons for a month yet! – to get up on stage and play a short piece of music and it’s equally as wonderful for our advanced students who’ve been taking lessons for a long time and can play longer more advanced pieces of music.
Registration details to follow in the next while.
Tips and Tricks:
One of our top frequently asked questions is “how long does the student need to be stay in lessons to really know how to play?”
The short answer:
In about 3 months the student will be able to learn the basic information and the basic techniques and skills so that at the end of those 3
months they should be able to play a recognizable song.
The longer answer:
It really depends on what you’re looking to get out of the lessons. Some students just want to be able to jam with friends and maybe play around a campfire or something more casual. Then there’s other students that really want to take it to the next level and be able to really master the instrument and play a variety of music.
We are always helping families and students meet their musical goals with their teacher for whichever path they choose.
Secret Word:
SCHOOL
Call, text, email or even drop into the studio at the lesson and give us that word and we will enter you into the draw for a $25 Amazon gift card.
Check out the video below for last time’s winner.
Thanks for tuning in this month! We’re so excited to be along for your journey and we will see you again next month!
Bye for now.
Don’t forget to pick up your Musical Ladder Practice Buddy at the desk after your first challenge!
One fun buddy to practice with once you’ve completed your Apprentice challenge for three months of music lessons!
Musical Ladder System® Achievements
The Academy of Music in Georgetown is the only music school in the area offering students the opportunity to earn special wristbands, trophies and certificates passing musical challenges with the Musical Ladder System®. This system helps motivate students to create and achieve musical goals with their instructor.
Proud parents, ambitious students and excited teachers. Everybody wins!
Do other schools offer trophies and certificates? A few, but none of them inspire their students with smiling faces by giving them full colour, really cool “Musical Ladder System®” wristbands they can show off to their friends.
