Hello there everyone. My name is James and I’m the director for the Academy of Music in Georgetown as well as
Burlington and Oakville, and the Brampton School of Music. I’m here with a quick video update.

We will start with our spirit week, which is next week. That’s June 18th to 24th and it’s a beach theme so we’re encouraging our students to come in Hawaiian shirts or hats, sunglasses, maybe bring a pool noodle or a beach ball, or a sand bucket. Anything at all that you think relates to the beach. It’s just about having fun and thinking about the warm weather. Every student that does participate will get an entry to win a prize (likely a really cool crafty prize made by Vanessa) as well as a Dairy Queen gift card so that you can go out and celebrate the warm weather with a cold treat.

I’d like to welcome new students. We’ve had 48 new students register with us since my last update so we want to thank you for joining us. We’re excited that you have chosen us for your musical journey. Welcome! We appreciate

Summer recitals; in the summertime on August 13th for the Oakville and Burlington locations, and then August 20th for the Georgetown and Brampton locations. The Georgetown and Brampton recital will be in Georgetown and the Burlington and Oakville one will be in Oakville. There’s a summer recital so you can sign up for that now. We plan to have a bouncy castle. We’re going to have face painting. I’m going to be there offering up a free lunch of hamburgers, hot dogs, and veggie burgers for those who would like that. We’re going to spend the afternoon listening to your beautiful music, having fun and celebrating the summer. It’s just one of our ways of saying thank you for being a student with our school and another opportunity for you to perform music for your friends and family.

Our Disney recital; this one’s kind of new. I did mention it last time but this one’s kind of new. On January 27th 2024 we are going to have a Disney recital and Gala. We’re renting a ballroom in Oakville. Students will play a Disney song for the recital portion so you can sign up for that soon. We’llhave a catered dinner and Gala event. Hopefully we’ll have some character meets and do all things Disney. It’s the first time we’ve done anything like this and I think it’s going to be a lot of fun!

On the same note, we are always looking for more opportunities for students to set goals for themselves with music. We’re also looking for chances to help in our community in some ways so, we’re going to start arranging seniors residents performances. 10 to 20 students at a time will be able to sign up, prepare a song, and play for a local seniors home. It’s a great opportunity to learn a song and practice to prepare for a recital. It’s a nice thing to do for our community and it’s great to perform music for a very appreciative audience.

This system helps motivate students to create and achieve musical goals with their instructor.
